The Czech republic - "Drak" (The Dragon)

Here is our entry for Schoolovision 2010. This year we present the song "Drak" (The Dragon).

The song was composed by Ales Cuma from Suzaplay band just for us. The part of the video was shooted at the main city square.
You can use subtitles added to the video to understand the lyrics.

Here is our entry for Schoolovision 2010. It's quite different from last year's entry as we chose to sing and dance a traditional occitanian song. The occitanian language is a very old one, spoken in the South-West of France before this region was integrated into the kingdom of France. We hope you like it!

CYPRUS - Loulla mou Maroulla mou

This is a Cyprus folk song, in Cypriot dialect. We decided to change part of the song and transformed it into a hip hop tempo, while the refrain is kept as the traditional song. People used to sing it after lunchtime when all the family gathered together. It was usually sung without music where people kept the beat by knocking the forks on their dishes.
Enjoy our song with movie clips taken from our village, Agros and we hope you like our Cyprus traditional costumes…

Here comes the video from Iceland. The 5th grade pupils were in the biggest acting role this time. The biggest part of the video was taken on a trip to an island called Videy close to Reykjavik. They were visiting John Lennon’s monument. His wife, Yoko Ono rose this monument some years ago. This is a strong light beam who lights up the sky in October to December every year. This year we are presenting the ABBA melody The Dancing Queen. Please have a look.

Finland: Hi And Ho - We Plant Trees!

Eno Primary School represents Finland in Schoolovision 2010. Our song is called Hi And Ho - We Plant Trees!. It is about the importance of tree planting and peace. This song is also a title song for a global ENO Project that was founded at Eno Primary School in 2000. Our next tree planting day will take place 21st of May 2010.

Our song for this year is “Il-Karozzin.”

“ Il-Karozzin” or “The Horsedrawn Carriage” was a popular means of transport in the Maltese islands in olden days. This means of transport was a common scene and one could see and hear the sound of hooves beating and clicking on the ground as the horsedrawn carriage passed through villages and towns, through the countryside and also along coast roads of the Maltese islands. The poor people depended on the horsedrawn carriage to take them on errands outside their village. The Horse Drawn Carriage was also used on special feasts and occasions such as Carnival or a wedding ceremony. Today the horsedrawn carriage is popular among tourists who would like to go round our magnificent and silent old capital city Imdina and today’s capital city Valletta.

Our contribution is a traditional Austrian folk-song.
Bettina, the Native-Speaker of our school helped us to translate the lyrics :

We are ready to receive this year's songs in the second edition of Schoolovision! Remember that all songs need to be uploaded to the blog by Friday 14th May, to allow all the 34 partner countries to view them and evaluate them before the big "live vote", Eurovision style, which will take place one week later. Details of this will follow shortly!

In the meantime, to create space here on the main blog for all the contest entries, I have moved all the "test videos" to the Schoolovision 2010 tests blog so that you can view them there.

2010 Eurovision Song Contest- Oslo, Norway, 29 May 2010

“Schoolovision 2010”- May 2010

Following a similar format to the Eurovision Song Contest, Schoolovision 2010 will once again allow one primary school from all eTwinning countries wishing to participate, to record and upload a song of their choice, to be viewed by all other participants in the project.

In addition, all countries will be asked to evaluate and vote for their favourite songs after they have listened to all the others- and of course, voting for yourself will not be allowed!

You and your class will have until Friday 14th May to decide upon your song, practise it, video it, and get it uploaded onto the project blog website, using either the video upload section within www.blogger.com, or by using YouTube, or both. Once all songs are uploaded, you will need to get your class to watch all the other countries' entries and decide who will receive your votes. This should be done in the week from Friday 14th May until Thursday 20th May.

On Friday 21st May 2010, you have two choices. You can either join the team for a group webcam conference, starting at 9.00am UK time, where we will announce our votes to each other and total the votes up, so we can establish the winner. Or, if this is not possible, you will need to email your votes to Michael Purves, the project co-ordinator BEFORE the live webcam voting takes place. This way, we will be able to successfully total all the votes from all the countries and announce who are Schoolovision champions for 2010. The winning school will be sent a specially commissioned trophy!

RULES

1. Only one school from each country will be allowed to enter.

2. Schoolovision is for primary schools only.

3. Once you have agreed to enter and submitted your request to the project coordinator, Michael Purves you will receive an invitation to become a partner in the project, followed later by a separate invitation to contribute to the project's blog. You need to sign up for the blog, whereby you will be able to upload your finished song in due course.

In addition, please send Michael a brief description of your school, along with a photograph, that Michael will add to the blog, so that each country can see who is all taking part.

4. By the end of February 2010, you need to upload a short video of your school/ surrounding area, to introduce your country to all the others taking part. This also serves as a way of ensuring that all partners are able to use the blog successfully.

5. The song you choose to sing should be be one of your choice, hopefully chosen in collaboration with your pupils, and can be sung in any language. It can be a well known song, or an original song that perhaps no-one else will have heard of- it's up to you! When you have decided on your song, please email Michael with the name of the song. PLEASE BE AWARE THAT IF THE SONG HAS BEEN COPYRIGHTED, YOU MUST GET PERMISSION BEFORE USING IT. IF YOU NEED TO GET PERMISSION (FROM THE PRODUCER) THEN YOU MUST EMAIL A COPY OF THIS PERMISSION TO MICHAEL BEFORE USING IT!!

6. Musical accompaniment is permitted- but only in the following way. Members of your class (your pupils) who wish to play musical instruments can do so, and your song can have adult help who could for example, play a piano or a keyboard to lead the tune of the song. Alternatively, you can use a CD for the tune (but without the original singer's voice) - but your children MUST do the singing!

7. All entries should be completed by Friday 14th May. When your song is ready, you upload the video of your song to the blog, via www.blogger.com using either the “upload video” section of the site, or by uploading your video to YouTube, then copying and pasting the embed code into your blog post. All files MUST be uploaded by Friday 14th May, as each country will then need to watch all the entries and judge them during the following week- Monday 17th- Thursday 20th May.

8. Once you and your pupils have watched each entry and chosen your favourites, either email your choices to Michael Purves, before Friday 21st May, or you can give your votes, live, via webcam conference on Friday 21st May. YOU MUST NOT VOTE FOR YOUR OWN ENTRY!
